Our Word Lists

Word Unscrambler uses carefully curated word lists to power our solving tools. Our primary word database includes:

Sources

• Public Domain Dictionaries: Words from established public domain English dictionaries
• Scrabble Word Lists: Words valid in tournament Scrabble play (TWL and SOWPODS compatible)
• Common English Words: Frequently used words from linguistic corpora

What's Included

• Common English words (2-15 letters)
• Words valid in Scrabble and Words With Friends
• Standard dictionary words

What's Excluded

• Proper nouns (names, places, brands)
• Abbreviations and acronyms
• Hyphenated words
• Offensive or vulgar terms
• Extremely obscure or archaic words

Tool Methodology

Word Unscrambler

Our unscrambler uses an optimized algorithm that:

1. Analyzes the input letters and any wildcards
2. Searches our indexed word database for matches
3. Filters results based on user criteria (length, patterns)
4. Calculates Scrabble scores for each word
5. Returns results sorted by score or length

Anagram Solver

Anagrams are found by:

1. Creating a "signature" of the input (sorted letters)
2. Matching against pre-computed signatures in our database
3. Returning all words with identical signatures

Pattern Matching (Crossword Solver)

Pattern matching uses:

1. Regular expression conversion of user patterns
2. Indexed search by word length for efficiency
3. Direct pattern matching against candidate words

Wordle Helper

Wordle suggestions are generated by:

1. Filtering 5-letter words based on green letter positions
2. Requiring yellow letters to be present (but not in specified positions)
3. Excluding gray letters from results
4. Scoring remaining words by letter frequency for optimal guesses

Connections Helper

Grouping suggestions use heuristic analysis:

• Category matching against known word categories
• Prefix and suffix pattern detection
• Word length grouping
• Common association patterns

Note: These are suggestions only and may not match official puzzle answers.

Spelling Bee Helper

Words are found by:

1. Filtering for words containing the center letter
2. Ensuring all letters are from the allowed set
3. Requiring minimum 4-letter length
4. Identifying pangrams (words using all 7 letters)

Scrabble Scoring

We use standard Scrabble letter values:

Scores shown are base word scores without board multipliers.

Data Updates

Our word lists and algorithms are updated:

• When new words are officially added to Scrabble dictionaries
• When users report missing or incorrect words
• When we identify improvements to our algorithms

Limitations

Please be aware of these limitations:

• Our word list may not match every game's official dictionary exactly
• Some valid words may be missing; some included words may not be accepted by all games
• Daily puzzle helpers provide suggestions, not guaranteed answers
• Results depend on the accuracy of user input
